Battleship: Preview & Trailer

Battleship, as boring as the name sounds, has more to it than meets the eye. With the latest upcoming movie from director, Peter Berg (The Kingdom, Hancock), Battleship focuses on Admiral Shane, played by Liam Neeson, who, along with his fleet of ships, comes across an unknown, alien force, who initiate an attack on them. Fighting for their lives, Shane and his men, including Alexander Skarsgard, playing Stone Hopper, who is in a relationship with the Admiral’s daughter, must find out what the unknown species are doing, and destroy them before they complete their abominable objective. Check out the trailer, a very deceiving one for the first half:

Although it seems somewhat far-fetched, I have a feeling this could surprise us all and turn out to be a great movie. Also, Liam Neeson is in it, so I’m sure there’ll be some ass-kicking, adrenaline-filled scenes of him fist-fighting a giant alien robot and kicking the shit out of it…But seriously, I think it could be good. I’m enjoying this new genre of aliens clashing with peculiar areas of the planet, what with the release of Cowboys & Aliens, and now this. It makes a change from the generic aliens attacking the whole of Earth, trying to destroy it all at once.

Battleship, stars Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch, Josh Pence, and even Rihanna., It will be hitting cinema screens on the 18th May, 2012.

New Doctor Who Trailer

Doctor Who & Amy Ponds

Fans of the latest Doctor Who series will be pleased to know that a new trailer is out for the next 6 episodes, which will be concluding the current season, with Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan  reprising her role as the lovely Amy Pond. The trailer below shows bits and pieces of the upcoming 6 episodes, continuing from the last episode which aired, which ended with River Song (Alex Kingston) finally revealing who she was – a twist which I, personally, loved. Check out the trailer:

So, what do you think? Although I have enjoyed the current season, with Smith portraying the Doctor, it does seem to be missing the spark that the previous series’ had – in particular, the strong and interesting storylines. However, I felt this began to pick up towards the ending of the first half, and from this trailer, it would seem the programme is finally returning back to basics, with the episode on Hitler looking particularly interesting (titled ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’). It would seem that, hopefully, this second half of the series will out-do the first half.

The conclusion of the 6th series of Doctor Who comes back to our TV screens on the 27th August, the same time as it does in the US I’m assuming, to keep any Who nerds over the pond happy, too.

Paranormal Activity 3 Trailer

Paranormal Activity (2007)

Paranormal activity was one of my favourite scare films back in its release in 2007. Due to its brilliant scare tactics and good use of home footage cameras, making the experience seem even more real, I was inclined to see the 2nd film on its release date last year. News has now hit me that the trilogy will be completed this October with a prequal of the first film being released. Paranormal Activity 3 will involve Katie, played by Katie Featherston in the first movie, and Kristi, played by Sprague Grayden in number 2, as children seeing the scary, demonic goings on in their house one more time. A change of director has been installed for the 3rd movie however the two writers in Michael R. Perry and Oren Peli (writer and director of the first film) remain.

I have got my hands on the trailer for you all to see. Take a quick look here:

What do you think? Personally I am a bit sceptical about this 3rd release. I thoroughly enjoyed the original, however the second film really was a huge flop. I didn’t find it scary at all and it took way too long to build up the suspense. Hopefully this film will be as good, if not better, than the first therefore saving the brilliance of the first film.

Paranormal Activity 3 is due to release October 2011.

A Leaked Avengers Trailer?

With hype seeming to build up about The Avengers movie, I woke up to be supplied with a leaked trailer from the reliable SuperHeroShows

Unfortunately the video quality is rather shoddy. But I will supply you with the link anyway. It seems to be full action and it looks to be a good competitor to the Dark Knight Rises next year.

Unfortunately the website that gave me the trailer has removed the video, however I managed to find another site that shows it:

Whether it is from the upcoming ‘The Avengers’ movie we are not entirely sure of, although it would seem unlikely, seeing as the movie isn’t expected to be released until May of next year – although, saying that, we have been given a trailer of The Dark Knight Rises over a year before its scheduled release date. However, from what I have seen from this clip, it seems that it may be an after-the-credits clip from the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, which is due to be released on the 29th of this month. So it may contain possible spoilers for the upcoming Captain America flick. But either way, it is leaked Avengers material, although you may just want to wait for the real version, when the movie is released in 11 days time, which will be in higher quality, too.

Contagion: Preview & Trailer

There have been numerous pandemics and health scares in the past, with many fearing that they would catch a life-threatening disease going around. Contagion, directed by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve & Thirteen), sees the world-wide outbreak of a deadly disease that can be caught merely through contact. The virus spreads across the whole planet, killing masses of humans in just days. A team of medics is all that stands between the mutating virus, and the certain death of the human population.

With a great cast, consisting of Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gywneth Paltrow & Jude Law, this movie seems promising. Also starring, are more top actors, including Laurence Fishburne, John Hawkes and Marion Cotillard (who starred in Inception and is in the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises). Comedian, Demetri Martin, also appears to be part of the cast, too, and although I’m not sure what he’ll be doing in the movie, he is a favourite comedian of mine, so that’s a plus. Check out the trailer for this sci-fi/action-thriller below:

So, what do you think? Is this a future classic, or just another mediocre movie to be added to the pile? Share your opinions with us. Contagion, is set to hit to hit US theatres on the 9th September, and is released in the UK on the 21st October.

The Dark Knight Rises: Details on Pittsburgh Shooting

Carnegie Mellon from Above

Latest reports have it that some scenes from the upcoming Nolan flick, The Dark Knight Rises, will be shot at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, under the working title of Magnus Rex. However, we’re also given some juicy details on what will be happening in these shootings. Apparently, a few things will be happening, so if you don’t want to know anything about the movie, don’t read the rest of this paragraph. Details include: “an explosion, a prison break, precision stunt driving, gunfire, atmospheric smoke, and controlled pyrotechnic explosions”, as reported on the CMU website. Further details also state, “One character drives a motorcycle through the fourth floor lobby, out the front doors and down the steps onto Fifth Ave.”.

And if this isn’t exciting enough for us Bat-fans, the latest news circulating the internet is that a teaser trailer for TDKR is set to be shown before the showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 this weekend. This would make sense, as Deathly Hallows Part 2 is Warner Bros’ biggest movie of this year, and it’s more or less a year until TDKR is released, so it would seem like a good idea for some promotional material to be released. However, although many sources are claiming that this will happen, it hasn’t officially been confirmed, so we’ll have to wait and see. Guess that’s one more big reason to be excited to go and see the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at the cinema.
