The Lizard, a superhuman reptile and also one of Spiderman’s biggest foes, also known as his alter-ego, Dr. Curt Connors, has been revealed as a villain in the upcoming Spidey reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. Curt Connors will be portrayed by Rhys Ifans (Deathly Hallows Pt. 1, Notting Hill), who, as it goes in the comics, managed to give himself superhuman powers through exposure to forms of mutagenic chemicals, thus excelling his powers to a superhuman level, rivalling Spiderman’s superhuman powers acquired through radioactive exposure. It’s such a shame that we just die in real life if exposed to severe radioactive materials..

According to sources, The Lizard,in the upcoming movie, stands at around 7 feet tall, with green, scaly skin, a long tail, as well as a long pink tongue. He pretty much looks how he’s supposed to look then; although, apparently his face appears to be flat rather than having the extended snout (gone for the Voldemort look there I see). Andrew Garfield will be portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man in this reboot, directed by Marc Webb. Check out the trailer if you haven’t already:

The reboot appears to have a darker, more serious tone to it, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. I’ve kind of got the feeling they’ll take a similar root that Christopher Nolan has taken with Batman, in terms of making the franchise darker, more serious, and hopefully for this Spidey reboot, much more awesome. Although, I did quite enjoy the Sam Raimi trilogy. The Amazing Spider-Man is set to hit cinema screens on the 3rd July, 2012.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Official Trailer

Just when you thought there were enough anticipated trailers leaked in the past week or two, another massive trailer hits the net. The trailer for The Amazing Spiderman has now been officially released. The reboot follows Peter Parker from the beginning of his journey once again, before his transformation into the alter-ego, Spiderman. This story, however, seems a little more serious than the original Spiderman movie, which was directed by Sam Raimi. Check out the trailer:

So, what do you think? Although I didn’t think they necessarily needed to do a Spiderman reboot, I suppose it would be nice to see how they play it out, although many bits of the trailer are similar to the original Spiderman movie (although this may be because of how it is done in the comics). I particularly liked the first-person viewpoint of Spiderman in the trailer, which was somewhat similar to the end scene of the original Spiderman movie (it makes me feel like Spiderman, you see). The Amazing Spiderman, directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spiderman, is set to be released on the 3rd of July, 2012. Stay with us for more information.
