Michael Caine, You Still Haven’t Given Up On Batman. Never!

Michael Caine, who starred as Alfred PennyworthBruce Wayne‘s butler and Batman‘s third leg, as we all know, is reprising his role as good old trustworthy Alfred the butler, in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming apparent Bat-finale, The Dark Knight Rises. However, despite the fact Nolan says this will be his last Batman movie, thus concluding his outstanding trilogy (lets face it, Rises is going to be amazing), Caine has told us that he isn’t necessarily ready to break ties with his old pal Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Caine, now 78, although still more than capable of displaying a great performance in movies, has recently been speaking out about what the future will hold for the Batman franchise once Nolan finishes his final installment. He stated, “I think it will be the last Batman that Chris Nolan will make. I never say the last time for me for anything”. If Caine were to stay on for the role of Alfred, this wouldn’t be the first time an actor has stayed on for the role after the director and actor portraying Bruce/Batman have changed; Michael Cough, who has now passed away, on the 17th March of this year, played the role of Alfred Pennyworth for both Tim Burton (Batman, Batman Returns) and Joel Schumacher (Batman Forever, Batman & Robin), starring alongside three different actors playing the role of Bruce/Batman: Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney.

Although I still remain somewhat skeptical about the idea of another Batman movie without Nolan or Christian Bale, one thing I would definitely be happy to see remaining in the franchise is Michael Caine. Right from the start of Batman Begins (2005), Caine displayed a brilliant performance as Alfred the butler, managing to be highly comical in almost anything he utters, yet also managing to remain a strong point for Bruce Wayne, trying his best to keep him on his feet and picking him up should he feel lost (“Why do we fall, Sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up“). In my opinion, Michael Caine has mastered the role of Alfred, and more or less stands in as a father-figure for Bruce, but also as a life-line. It may be daunting to think about another Batman flick without Nolan, but we can rest assured that Caine will still be there to offer another sterling performance.

Michael Caine has also revealed this week, that shooting for TDKR has passed its halfway point, having finished filming in the UK, now moving on to the US. This is brilliant news for us huge Batman fans, with it being exactly a year today until the completed masterpiece-in-the-works is to hit the big screens.

For all you Batman Begins fans, here’s a small clip from the movie, which I found to be one of the best scenes of the movie, and I’m sure many of you Begins fans will agree:

The Dark Knight Rises hits cinema screens on the 20th July, 2012. Stay tuned for the latest Bat-news.

The Official The Dark Knight Rises Trailer – Watch Now

A few days ago we supplied our fans with a fuzzy, bad quality teaser trailer that was leaked all over the net after the high quality trailer was banned all across the net. Finally, the trailer has been officially released for all of us Batman fans and so we’ve decided to show you the trailer in top quality.

The trailer begins, with the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures logos, before footage of Batman in Batman Begins is displayed, with a voice-over from the main villain in Begins, Ra’s Al Ghul (Liam Neeson), mentioning ‘what Bruce must become’. The trailer continues, showing a caption, “Every Hero Has A Journey”, and then, “Every Journey Has An End”.

The trailer then sees Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), who appears to be laying in a hospital bed, seeming a bit run down, with him talking to Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), stating they are, “in this together”. Gordon then begs for Batman to return, before the trailer moves forward to a scene of Bane (Tom Hardy), before the camera scales a large building, moving up to the sky, showing the image we all know, the Bat logo. (see image, top right)

Well, here is the trailer for all of you to see:

The Dark Knight Rises: Teaser Poster Unveiled

Finally, an official teaser poster for the hugely anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, hits the internet. The image, below, shows a mass of skyscrapers, which appear to be crumbling, of course, producing an outline of Batman’s Bat logo. The skyscrapers most likely, must be from the home city of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Gotham City. The fact that the skyscrapers are crumbling to pieces could indicate many things. Perhaps it’s showing the destruction and chaos happening in Gotham city, and in the middle, is Batman, who will finally restore peace to the corrupt city. Or maybe the skyscrapers are being built up again, as opposed to being broken down, symbolising the rising of The Dark Knight. Or maybe it’s just an awesome image that’s supposed to get us excited for the movie, which it has done.

A short teaser trailer is rumoured to be appearing before the showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which is supposed to last around 1 minute and 33 seconds. Whether it is supposed to show any of the characters or not, no one knows. However, if the rumours are true, all I know is that you’ll want to make sure that you get to your showing of Deathly Hallows Part 2 well in advance so that you can catch the trailers. Although characters may not be shown in the trailer, the only official image to be released of a character from the upcoming movie, is of Bane (Tom Hardy), check it out if you haven’t already: http://wp.me/p1aSRl-g1.

The Dark Knight Rises, directed by Christopher Nolan, who, coincidentally (or not), used skyscrapers in a damaged environment for his teaser poster of huge blockbuster, Inception, is set to hit cinema screens on the 20th July, 2012.
